• Presto Expo and Rafael Silveira in Culture Shock March 5th, 2010 From Saturday, March 6 Gallery Culture Shock presents the exhibition with PRESTO of São Paulo and Curitiba Rafael Silveira. Presto (aka Marcio Penha), Charles studied at the School Field, home of many artists who devoted themselves in São Paulo graffiti, as Speto, Twins and Onesto among others. He began painting the streets in 1996 and since then develops an imaginary itself, consisting of figures and a fantastic flowery handwriting, almost abstract. His drawing and painting are very delicate and their supporters are chosen, built, destroyed and rebuilt with mastery. Screens aged, weathered wood and rusty metal are transformed into the perfect background for the artist to put their colorful cartoon characters. Rafael Silveira started in the late 80s as a child, producing fanzines. Throughout the 90's comics published in fanzines and independent magazines from all over Brazil. Even published by the North American publisher Dark Horse, one of the largest in the world. Since 2004 he began painting in oils. His paintings have gone through galleries of the main centers in Brazil and also in the USA. In late 2007 a book compiling the best of his work was released by the publisher and Lyrics Art: Women, Flying Hats and Other Cool Stuff. In 2008 he signed a series of paintings illustrating the group's new album Skank, one of the biggest bands in Brazil, and released his second book: Pop Surreal, Art and also the lyrics.
